Both students and teachers have been affected by the instability caused by COVID. Thinking too far ahead can be a difficult task; adults can't plan overseas holidays or work trips, and for teenagers, it's an inability to plan their lives!
Swivel Careers team offers you 3 simple zero-cost ideas to help increase positivity in students with regards to their future careers:
Encourage a growth mindset. Attitude is everything and costs nothing.
Employers repeatedly say this is one of the most important things they look for when hiring staff, and this is a key message to share with students. A positive attitude and being an agile thinker in challenging times can be a huge asset to a company.
Set up a LinkedIn Profile - Follow leaders in the industries you are interested in.
You can try this activity in one of your classes:
What influencers are your students following on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or other social media platforms? What are the qualities that make these people attractive to them? Do they see these qualities in themselves? How can they nurture them?
Your students may not be active on Linkedin, so you could introduce your senior students to this network and share a couple of inspiring professionals they could start following as preparation for their work lives.
Research the positive changes
